COLLECTING BRITISH POLICE MEMORABILIA
Of all the many hobbies that I've enjoyed over the years, probably none has been more fascinating and worthwhile than collecting British Police Memorabilia. Many interesting sidelines have developed as I've become more involved in the hobby. British Police History, British True Crime, Historical Autographs/ Documents, Preservation of Museum-quality Relics, etc., etc., all derive from collecting British Police Memorabilia. Long-lasting, worthwhile relationships and friendships are another very positive result of the hobby.
Knowledge of your subject is vitally important when collecting British Police memorabilia. Since very few resources are available in the United States I have found my membership in the Police Insignia Collectors Association (PICA) of Great Britain to be invaluable. Each issue of the PICA magazine contains a wealth of information about the hobby. More information about PICA can be obtained via my Links Page. Also, one of the menu buttons at the bottom of the page marked "Resources" will take you to a page of information that may prove beneficial ... especially when dealing with bobby helmets, whistles, and other British Police Collectibles.
Collecting British Police memorabilia can become very expensive. Now that I've begun to specialize in museum-quality, Victorian-era pieces it's not unusual to encounter extremely high asking prices. Primarily for this reason, and to maintain some degree of fun, I try to trade for most of my collectible items. Although I do occasionally purchase and sell, I've found that trading usually keeps everyone involved happy with the transaction. If interested, you can click here to view my current "WANTS" list. Please contact me via E-Mail before attempting any transaction; this way we can make sure that the terms are acceptable. I'm very proud of my personal collection and enjoy showing it to others. If you would like a virtual walk through of my collectibles room, please click here. If you prefer to view individual pieces of the collection, press the "Virtual Collection" button on the left menu bar. And last, if you would like to see the titles of my personal library, please click here.
